Within the context of the Space Track of the 8th Africa - EU Strategic Partnership (Science, Information Society, Space), BRAGMA is specifically focused on Supporting GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) and Africa.
Co-funded under FP7 (Contract 284422), BRAGMA (Bridging Actions for GMES and Africa) supports GMES and Africa coordination and awareness by
- Organising Coordination and Thematic Expert Workshops
- Facilitating participation of pre-qualified African stakeholders at relevant events to ensure pan-African engagement
- Building a community, engaging with key stakeholders, establishing and connect networks, and disseminate information through the BRAGMA Portal, Online Forum and Newsletters

BRAGMA is organising a two day invitation only Marine and Coastal Areas Workshop for thematic experts in Mombasa, Kenya 09 - 10 October 2012. This workshop is expected to contribute to the GMES & Africa Action Plan through consultation with African Member States, African Union Commission, European Commission and other key stakeholders.
The 6th FP7 Space Call was published on 10 July with a deadline for submissions of 21 November 2012, 17:00 CET. 47% of the available budget is allocated to GMES related activities.
The BRAGMA GMES & Africa Workshop organised within the JEG8 on Tuesday 08 May provided an opportunity to current State of Play and agree a path forward. The report and presentations are available for download.
